This course provides fundamental concepts of electricity and magnetism. Electromagnetism is a fundamental concept to be understood by the students to gain insight into most of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering subjects.
Electromagnetism is the fundamental concept utilized in electrical machines, many of the sensors and plays an important role in Electrical Engineering.
In this course, students will learn the concept of static charges and their behavior in the form of Coulomb’s law and also the effect various charge configurations on a test charge. They will learn Gauss’s law to find the total charge enclosed in a closed surface. Analysis is carried out using coordinate systems like Cartesian, cylindrical and spherical. Students learn Ohm’s law at microscopic level and able to relate all parameters of the resistance. Study on behavior of dielectric placed in electric filed will help in understanding capacitor working. In magneto-static students get to know about magnetic field intensity, flux and energy stored in a magnetic field. Concept of force experienced by a charge placed in electric and magnetic will be demonstrated and wave propagation information will be presented in the course.
